Midwest Photography Workshops has 2 seperate studios available for rent. For photographers of all levels, the thought of setting up a studio can be very over whelming. Renting a studio on a job to job basis allows you to have a professional studio experience without the large expense and overhead cost that goes with maintain your own space. Contact our office to arrange for a tour of our studio spaces


    1. Our studio's are available 7 days a week (Availabilty is subject to prior scheduled events)
    2. Lights are on overhead track systems. No cords or stands to trip over or knock down.
    3. Wireless and slave flash triggers. Your camera is not connected by a sync sord that might restrict movement.
    4. Large selection of snoots, barndoors, gobo's and screens to give the photographer maximum control when lighting the subject.
    5. Variety of props and set items to allow you to create geat settings.
    6. Large HDMI monitors for instant review or tethered shooting. ( Computer is not provided)
    7. Film or digital equipment is available for rent. Contact us for pricing and availability.

    Studio # 1 is an 800 square foot modern studio. It is equipped with :

    1. 3600 Watt Seconds of Elinchrom studio electronic flashes.
    2. 12,500 watts of quarts hot lighting.
    3. Up to 4 additional Elinchrom lights.
    4. Lights are on Bogen Sky Track system.
    5. 84" Octabank light modifier and 2 Westcott softbox #4's.
    6. Thirteen foot wide by 14 foot height white cove
    7. Black Background on a overhead track. It will reach out up to 12 feet and 3 sides
    8. Selection of muslin and canvas backgrounds in various colors, all 12' wide
    9. Wireless and slave flash triggers. Your camera is not connected by a sync sord that might restrict movement.
    10. Large selection of snoots, barndoors, gobo's and screens to give the photographer maximum control when lighting the subject.
    11. Support system for your own paper or cloth background up to 12' wide.

    Studio # 2 is 600 square feet. It is equipped with :

    1. Two Westcott #4 Softboxes powered by a Speedotron 4880 power pack for main lights.
    2. Seperate Speedotron 800 Wat-second power pack for background lights.
    3. Heavy duty light boom.
    4. Lights are on Bogen Sky Track system.
    5. Flying Flat Screen for shadowless lighting from above.
    6. Elinchrom Product Lighting Table.
    7. Copy Bench with 4 polarized quartz lights at 650 watts each.
    8. Blue & Green Screen Fabric Backgrounds
    9. Chromo Green painted wall.
    10. Selection of muslin and canvas backgrounds in various colors, all 12' wide.

  • Studio Rental Fee's
    • To check the availability of either studio's, please call 313-804-9266. All resvervation for studio time are handled by phone.
    • Once a date has been reserved, payment must be recieved with in 7 days or the reservation will be canceled

    • Midwest offers 2 options for payment of studio rental.

    • Option #1 Payment may be made by cash or check either in person at the MPW office or by mail.
    • Option #2 You may use the online payment and make payment with a credit card via Paypal. Please note that there is a credit card transaction fee that is added to the rental at checkout.

    Camera rental (film and digital) details available upon request. Additional fees apply if we have to repaint the background.Please refer to the Rental Polices Section for details.

    Rental terms of the studio are as follows.

    1. Payment must be in U.S. Funds only.
    2. Studio rental time is sold in 3, 4 or 6 hour blocks. Select multiple qty's to fit you time requirements. (2-4 hour block for 8 hours)
    3. Renters can pay on-line by using the buttons on the Studio Rental Rates tab/page.
    4. Cancellations must be made by calling 313-304-9266.
    5. If cancelation is less than 48 hours before the scheduled time will result in the forfeiture of any and all payments made unless we rent the studio another other photographer.
    6. If at any time you arrive late or finish early, no adjustment will be made for time actually used.
    7. Extending your time on the day of the rental will be subject to availabilty and at the discression of the MPW staff member on duty at that time.
    8. Any time extension granted must be in the 3 , 4 or 6 hour block of time and paid in full at that time.
