Refund and Cancelation Policy

Midwest Photography Workshops makes every attempt to conduct all classes and workshops as scheduled.  Occasionally, insufficient enrolment causes MPW to cancel a workshop or class.  Any decision to cancel a class or workshop for lack of enrollment is made on the Thursday preceding the class.  Students, who have enrolled in a cancelled class or workshop have several options.

  • A student who pays for any class, workshop or photo safari using the on-line registration service and a credit card , any and all fees that are paid to the on-line registration service, Acteva Registration fees will not be refunded at any time, even in the event of cancelation by Midwest . These fees are paid to Acteva and not Midwest Photography. Midwest offers this service as a convenience to its students. Students are welcome to pay by check or cash in order to avoid these fees.
  • MPW can write a check to reimburse the any amount paid to enroll, and then mail them the check.  (The student is also welcome to pick the check up in person at the Farmington Hills campus by appointment only.) 
  • The student is welcome to request the deposit to be transferred to another class or workshop of their choosing provided it is not already sold out.
  • The student is welcome to request the deposit to be applied to another product or service provided by MPW such as: studio rental, private lessons or the purchase of a fine art print.

Midwest Photography Workshops will make every attempt to contact students prior to the start of each class or workshop to remind them of starting times and items to bring to class.  We apologize for any inconvenience encountered by the student arriving to the campus for a cancelled class or workshop due to an incorrect phone number or e-mail address.  If the student has not paid a deposit for the intended class or workshop, they do not have a reasonable expectation to get a reminder phone call.  MPW will not be responsible to reimburse any expenses to the student due to their arrival to the school for a cancelled class or workshop.
Midwest Photography Workshops registers students on a first-come-first served basis.  Certificate Students get priority for classes that are sold out.
If the student needs to cancel or drop out of any class or workshop, a two-week minimum notice is required.  If the class or workshop is posted on our web page:  www.mpw.com as sold out, a minimum three-week minimum notice is required to facilitate the replacement of that sold out seat.  MPW will make every attempt to re-fill that vacated seat from our waiting list. 

If no replacement is found, the entire deposit is forfeited up to but not to exceed 50% of the entire class or workshop fee.  The penalty of forfeit might be waived if extenuating medical circumstances exist. (Medical proof may be required.)   If notification of cancellation by the student is delivered with more than two weeks prior to the start of the class, no penalty will be accessed.

If you have enrolled in a Certificate Program and began taking classes and then wish to drop from the Certificate Program; Any refunds due will be calculated as follows: the full tuition will be calculated for all classes already completed or currently in session without any discounts applied. This amount will be subtracted from the total balance paid to date, this will be the amount of any refund given.

All refunds for a student requested cancellation will be subject to a $50.00 administration fee.


Photo Safari Trip Refund and Student Cancellation Policy

Student Cancellation Policy:

Up to 30 days from start date of trip ---- Full Refund
14 to 30 days                    .---- All applied to future trip
Less than 14 days            ---- Full refund less $295.00 deposit

Midwest Photography Workshops will make every attempt to conduct all Photo Safari Trips as scheduled.  Occasionally, insufficient enrolment causes MPW to cancel a workshop or class. The decision to cancel a trip will be made 7 days before the start date. If a trip is canceled a full refund will be made as follows:
MPW can write a check to reimburse the amount they paid to enroll, and then mail them the check.  (The student is also welcome to pick the check up in person at the Farmington Hills campus by appointment only.)  If the student paid for the class by our on-line registration service, MPW will initiate a reverse charge to their credit card. MPW is not responsible for any cost incurred by the student as a result of cancellation of a trip, class or workshop.  

All refunds for a student requested cancellation will be subject to a $50.00 administration fee.
